AWA5636 Series Class 2 Sound Level Meter
The AWA5636 Series is a professional Class 2 sound level meter range designed for general noise measurement, workplace assessments, environmental noise surveys and industrial applications.
Four versions are available, allowing you to choose from straightforward sound level measurement through to integrating measurement, continuous noise monitoring, statistical analysis and occupational noise exposure assessment.
The AWA5636 Series combines a 30–130 dB(A) measurement range with a 1/2" pre-polarised condenser microphone, A, C and Z frequency weighting and a compact handheld design.

AWA5636-1 – Basic
The entry-level version for straightforward professional sound level measurements.
Ideal where Class 2 measurement of current and maximum noise levels is required without integrating or statistical analysis.
Measures: Lp and Lmax.
AWA5636-2 – Integrating
Designed for applications where time-averaged noise measurements such as Leq are required.
A good choice for workplace noise, machinery testing, environmental surveys and general professional noise assessment.
Measures include: Lp, Leq, Lmax, Lmin, SEL, sound exposure E and Leq,T.
AWA5636-3 – Online Monitoring
Designed for continuous and online noise monitoring applications.
The AWA5636-3 provides short-interval equivalent sound level measurements and is suited to integration into continuous noise monitoring systems.
Measures include: Lp, Leq 1s and Lmax.
AWA5636-4 – Advanced
The most capable version in the AWA5636 Series.
It adds statistical and occupational noise exposure functions for more advanced workplace and environmental assessments.

Calibration
The AWA5636 can be field calibrated using a suitable 1/2" acoustic calibrator.
Aihua specifies the AWA6221B Class 2 calibrator and also allows compatible Class 1 calibrators such as the AWA6221.
Regular calibration and verification are recommended where the instrument is used for formal workplace, environmental or compliance measurements.

The AWA5636 is the best starting point where Class 2 accuracy is suitable.
Step up to the AWA5662 when Class 1 accuracy is required while keeping the instrument straightforward and cost-effective.
Choose the AWA6228+ where greater configuration flexibility or advanced functions such as FFT, reverberation, detailed frequency analysis or GPS are required.
The AWA6292 is intended for more specialised acoustic applications including advanced frequency analysis, reverberation and STI measurement.
